Jin no longer regulates the marriage system,
but the basic principle of avoiding consanguineous marriage
still applies. The Wiradjuri
language is no longer spoken fluently, but many words and expressions are known. Canobolas comes from Wiradjuri words for two shoulders,
coona, shoulder;
booloo, two -
Ghannabulla refers to two main peaks. Indigenous culture, spirituality, and
practices are tied to the land, which provided tools, shelter,
food, and connections to the ancestors.
