 courses in Cairns
A large number of American troops were stationed in the region during those years, but there is now little physical evidence of those years of unrest. The Cairns area is of historical importance for the development of an agricultural industry suited to the special tropical climate. The timber industry has changed significantly since the 1988 World Heritage List of Queensland Wet Tropics, which stretches along the coast from Townsville to Cooktown, and most of Far North Queensland's remaining sawmills now mill plantation timber. Buildings and areas in and around Cairns were used for various military purposes and the proximity of the conflict caused the evacuation of many local residents to the south. This in turn greatly affected the population of the Cairns area - initially Melanesian and Chinese labor moved in and southern Europeans, especially Italians, later moved into industry. The city of Cairns was originally built on a narrow, sandy , strip of land and the first town plan of 1877 used a grid pattern to create residential blocks. These communities have made a lasting contribution to Cairns, once home to Queensland's second largest Chinatown. How is that important? The City of Cairns (City of Cairns) and the Cairns District are of historical, technical and social importance to the State of Queensland. Timber was one of the earliest industries in Far North Queensland, timber being felled in the early 1870s, before Cairns itself was established. The most successful and dominant of them is the sugar industry, which had a very important impact on the development of the region, the attractiveness of the region and the changed aspect of the landscape.
